Areas between curves
Suppose we want to find the area between two curves, from \(x=a\) to \(x=b\). This area is represented by the definite integral\[\int_{a}^{b} (f(x)-g(x)) dx\]
where \(f(x)\geq g(x)\) \(\forall x \in [a,b]\). \(f(x)\) would be the "upper" curve, and \(g(x)\) would be the "lower" curve.
